September – October 2010

A local community group heard that we were meeting in a garden and invited us to use a space in Bilt Mansions, Deptford. Thinking this would be our new home, our members contributed to run the support group, they were mostly refugees and migrants with limited income. We bought food, crockery, and other provisions. A month later, a security guard refused to let us into the building because the previous tenants owed rent. We were not allowed access to get our supplies. We were homeless and lost.

About Red Ribbon Living Well

Red Ribbon Living Well (RRLW) is a community-led voluntary organisation supporting individuals affected by and living with HIV, mental health and family survivors of domestic violence in Lewisham and surrounding areas. The group was founded in 2009 by members who recognised the need for peer support in the community, and it has grown from its grass-roots beginnings.
